Havering Borough Libraries: Summer Reading Challenge Volunteers

This year the theme is around the iconic Beano magazine and is called ‘Mischief Makers’.  Last year there were over 3,000 Havering children take part.

As well as talking to the children about books they’ve read you will also record their progress and give out stickers etc. You’ll gain valuable experience of interacting with children.  Like all of our volunteer roles in libraries volunteers you can give as much or as little time as you want, you can choose the days and times you volunteer and it doesn't matter if you’re going away on holiday.  The Summer Reading Challenge sessions are usually in 2 hour blocks during the morning, afternoon and evening.

If anyone is interested please go to or and read the Summer Reading Challenge volunteer profile and apply online.
